*This ranking was computed in January of the year cited, based on data from a survey sent out in the fall of the previous year.

Note: Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute was not considered in the industrial engineering rankings because its name was not supplied to U.S. News by the American Society of Engineering Education at the time U.S. News conducted the industrial engineering survey. The school does have a program in industrial engineering and will be included in the next U.S. News survey.
